Current status
Steel Dome, or Çelik Kubbe, is Türkiye’s national integrated air and missile defence system-of-systems rather than a single weapon.
The programme is designed to connect sensors, command-and-control networks and effectors across multiple altitude and range bands. ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, MKE and TÜBİTAK SAGE are among the principal industrial and technology participants under SSB coordination. Production capacity and fielding are expanding, with ASELSAN identifying Steel Dome as one of the principal drivers of its 2026 business and industrial investment.
Why it matters
Steel Dome turns individual Turkish radar, missile, gun, electronic-warfare and directed-energy programmes into a national integrated air-defence architecture.
Its strategic value therefore depends as much on sensor fusion, C2 and weapon-target allocation as on the performance of any individual interceptor.
