What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site operators.

How we use cookies

We keep our use of cookies to a minimum. The Site relies on the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the Site to function — for example, to remember your cookie preferences and to route traffic securely through our content-delivery network (Cloudflare). These cannot be switched off in our systems.
  • Preference cookies. A single local record of your acknowledgement of this notice, so the cookie banner is not shown again on every visit.
  • Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-EGCXYNGSFZ) to count visits and see which coverage is read. The Google tag is added by our content-delivery network (Cloudflare) as pages are served, so it loads on every page view and is not switched on or off from this Site. It sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<stream-id> (typically up to two years). Measurement requests are sent to Google, including through Google domains used for audience measurement. You can prevent this at any time with your browser settings or Google’s opt-out add-on — see “Your choices” below.
  • Third-party / embedded content. Some pages embed video from YouTube (our “Watch & Listen” section). When such content loads, the provider may set its own cookies. These are governed by the provider’s own policies, not ours.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not run advertising on this Site. Google may nonetheless use measurement data in line with its own terms, including for audience features tied to your Google account settings.

Your choices

Because the analytics tag is inserted by our content-delivery network rather than by this Site, there is no on-page switch that can turn it off. You can still control it: install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a tracking-blocking extension or private window, or adjust the ad-personalisation controls in your Google account. Cookies already set can be removed through your browser at any time.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Site works. To avoid third-party cookies from embedded video, you can choose not to interact with that content.
