Current status

HÜRJET is Türkiye’s indigenous advanced jet trainer developed by Turkish Aerospace to replace ageing training aircraft and prepare pilots for modern combat-aircraft fleets.

Turkish Aerospace states that the P1 and P2 aircraft have completed more than 500 test flights and that serial production is progressing. The manufacturer currently references delivery to the Turkish Air Force in 2026. An earlier SSB 2024–2028 sector strategy, however, projected four Block-0 aircraft in 2027 and twelve Block-1 aircraft during 2028–2029. Defence Agenda should therefore track delivery timing as a live programme variable rather than present a single historic schedule as fixed.

Why it matters

HÜRJET closes a strategic gap between basic training and fifth-generation combat aviation.

It also provides Türkiye with an indigenous crewed jet platform on which avionics, flight-control, production, certification and weapons-integration expertise can mature ahead of more complex programmes.
