Raytheon, part of RTX, has introduced the MTS-A HD maritime helicopter sensor. This high-definition system is designed to improve U.S. Navy helicopter missions, offering sharper imagery and greater targeting accuracy. It aims to support pilots in complex maritime environments, where clear visuals are critical for safety and mission success.

Next-Generation Capability for Maritime Security
The new system builds on Raytheon’s existing MTS technology, already fitted to over 400 U.S. Navy helicopters. With high-definition imaging, the MTS-A HD maritime helicopter sensor allows faster threat detection and more precise targeting, even in low-visibility or hostile conditions.
“Navy helicopter pilots need the clearest possible view when flying in hostile areas. Our new high-definition sensor provides superior visuals, enabling faster and more informed decisions.”

Modular Architecture and Cost-Effective Integration
The sensor features a modular architecture. This design lets operators integrate it with current systems without replacing the full sensor suite. As a result, upgrades are faster, less disruptive, and more affordable.
Raytheon is also working with commercial and industry partners to reduce production costs. This cooperation supports quicker delivery schedules and more efficient system maintenance.
Strong International Interest
Beyond the U.S. Navy deployment, international demand for MTS-A HD is high, with interest from Australia, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, India, Norway, Greece, Spain, South Korea and other European and Asian nations. This reflects a wider global trend toward equipping maritime forces with advanced sensor technologies for persistent surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, and counter-piracy operations.
Part of Raytheon’s Expanding Sensor Portfolio
The MTS product line sits within Raytheon’s broader suite of advanced sensors, targeting systems, and integrated defence solutions. With the introduction of the HD variant, the company aims to strengthen its position in the global maritime security market, delivering critical capabilities for both peacetime patrols and high-intensity operations.
In an era where maritime situational awareness is a strategic priority, MTS-A HD positions itself as a force multiplier, enabling helicopter crews to operate effectively even in environments where visibility and sensor reliability are compromised.
